UK Students Visa Interview Questions and Answers

Previously we have shared some details on UK student visa including the documents required and the list of common questions. In this part we’ll try to share how to answer the typical tier 4 visa questions. Keep in mind that all the answers will be noted down and use to assess the application.
1. Why did you choose the UK as your study destination?
Answer perspective: Align your answer as, why do you prefer UK over your home country or other English-speaking countries which are also being chosen by the students of your country. Try to focus on the major advantage of studying in UK for your career.
2. Why did you choose this university?
Answer perspective: Here you have to compare the chosen university with a couple of other institutes that offer same course. Mention the point due to which you chose the particular institute and again your answer should reflect why you want to study in UK.
3. Why did you choose your course?
Answer perspective: There might be few courses within a subject area that you wish to study at your chosen university. You should prepare the answer what specific reason encouraged you to choose a course over the others within that university. Your decision making process that led you to decide for a specific course.
4. How does your course fit into your career plans?
Answer perspective: Here you need to line up your career plans after graduating and how will the knowledge and skills you gain will help you achieve your goals. You should know, where does this course will lead you to your professional career? And it would be great if you know what other people, graduated from the course and university are performing the roles and in what organizations.
Sometimes students choose a course similar to their previous academic level, in such a case you should be prepared to explain how it will offer career progression after graduating.
5. Why have you decided to incur the extra costs involved with studying in the UK?
Answer perspective: To answer this question, you have to think about all the advantages of studying abroad. You should know all the cost and expenses that will incur during the course and what is your plan to pay for them? Most importantly, why have you and your guardians decided to make this investment?
6. Where will you be staying?
Answer perspective: You should plan ahead if you will be staying in a campus hostel or separate student’s dormitory. How far is it from your university campus and how much it will cost you to stay there? Know your transportation routes and charges to/from your residence.
7. Do you plan to work in the UK?
Answer perspective: This is a bit tricky and you have to be careful while answering it. You should know how work will compliment your academic studies. Your main purpose of going to UK is to study not the work and working won’t cover your living costs or study expenses. You should also show that you clearly understand how many hours you can work and how much you can earn?
8. What is your course fee?
Answer perspective: You need to know annual tuition fee, admission fee and any other related fees that are being charged by the university you chose. What are fee terms of the course such as installments whether it is biannually or yearly, etc. How much you have paid and what is the remaining amount?
Apart from typical interview questions, interviewer also observe the ability to converse in English language, even though you’ve already got required score in IELTS test.
